Disco Elysium is possibly the most insane thing I have ever played.
You play a detective suffering from alcohol induced amnesia. You’ve probably also suffered a stroke. You remember nothing – which means you have complete freedom to become whoever you want to be.
You have to investigate a murder. Sure, you can invest in intelligence skills and try to be a real cop. OR you can try to beat the truth out of people. Or you can just become a drug addict and start a nightclub in an abandoned church. Or you can pass time by talking to your necktie, or pat a good mailbox.
A lot of games advertised as having “complete freedom of choice” exaggerate that freedom. Disco Elysium definitely does not.
